How to Recharge FASTag Using Google Pay : Starting Jan 15, FASTag has become mandatory for vehicle owners in India to allow automatic toll collection at the toll plazas. And while we already had several apps facilitating FASTag recharges.
Google Pay too has now joined the wagon with its latest update. In this article, let’s see more on how you can recharge FASTag using Google Play app on your phone.
As per NPCI guidelines, Banks licensed to provide FASTag services, should provide FASTag customers with the option to recharge their FASTag through UPI.
Among the mobile apps that allow users to transfer money through UPI, Google Pay is a very popular mobile app. Google Pay can be used to recharge your FASTag, whichever bank your FASTag is issued from.
The UPI ID to your FASTag is netc.XXXXXXXXX@bank-name
For example if your FASTag is from HDFC Bank and your vehicle number is DL 02 N 1234, then your UPI VPA (Virutal Private Address) or UPI ID would be netc.dl02n1234@hdfcbank.
This UPI ID or UPI address is case insensitive. So NETC.DL02N1234@HDFCBANK is the same as netc.dl02n1234@hdfcbank.
Recharge FASTag using Google Pay
Before we start, make sure that you’re running the latest version of Google Pay on your device. If not, you can update it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Step-by-step Guide to Recharge FASTag on Google Pay
1] Launch the Google Pay app on your phone.
2] Click on the blue-colored New Payment button on the bottom of your screen
3] Now Click on “UPI ID or QR” as shown in Picture.
4] Now enter your UPI ID ( netc.XXXXXXXXX@bank-name )
5] Click on VERIFY button followed by OK (See the attached picture)
6] And now in the final step Click on “PAY” and enter amount.
Add your UPI handle to Google Pay. Transfer Rs. 1/- through UPI to your FASTag as a test transfer.
In just about a second or two, you will recieve an SMS from your bank that your FASTag has been recharged for Rs. 1/-. This SMS is confirmation that your UPI transfer to your FASTag through Google Pay works as it is expected to.
Now that UPI transfer through Google Pay to recharge your FASTag has been verified, you can use it to recharge your FASTag whenever required.
Your FASTag account isn’t updated after payment
Google Pay uses UPI (United Payments Interface) to send payments to your FASTag account. If your bank hasn’t topped-up your FASTag account despite a successful payment, contact the bank with the UPI Transaction ID.
